SNOW

The past two days was a record breaking massive arctic snowstorm. We got a little bit of snow back in November before Thanksgiving, but had a very dry December and have been anxiously awaiting what has been called as a "La Nina" winter, which is supposed to bring record snow. Well, wait no longer, because it came all at once. The Missoula airport reading was 15.9 inches over the two days (mostly probably in a 36 hour window) but our house is measuring at 18 inches, maybe even 20. It is crazy! Shane plowed the driveway and the road that goes down our mountain yesterday just so we could get down but by the time he was done it was dinner time. Schools closed 2 days which is unheard of here! Paula's preschool teacher says she doesn't remember having a snow day ever in the 20 years she's been a teacher. It's Montana, but this is wild. Yesterday we played in it for a while. It isn't that cold, around 30 yesterday, so the kids were fine bundled up in their gear (btw, Nathan is wearing a 12-18 month snow suit...hilarious:).

We are having a few friends come over this afternoon to try to sled the driveway, and if that doesn't work we have an area nearby where we can go try. It might be too much snow to sled, but the driveway is plowed, so I'm hoping it will work. Oh, and this morning Shane had to leave early and was a little frustrated to see after all the plowing yesterday overnight we got about 3 more inches. Seriously! He said "I'm over the snow". HA! It's just the beginning of winter :)
