Crawfish Boil

Happy 31st Birthday to Shane! We celebrated with a crawfish boil (though he made sure it was not technically a birthday party) and had some friends over. Our house was also hit by lightning last Friday so we were without internet/phone until today. It felt like a lifetime! Amazing how much you rely on that access and when its taken away it feels like you are separated from the rest of the world! We think it hit the ground and tapped into the electric pet fence somehow. It blew the electric fence box off the wall in the garage and we lost electricity to all the plugs in there. Shane replaced the GFCI breaker and still no power. We had to run an extension cord from the closest working plug to make sure the refrigerator and deep freeze were plugged in so we didn't lose the cow, pig and turkeys in there. The new modem came today and we had a friend help us with the phone/internet wiring and had to order a new keyboard (not sure why, but it blew out the keyboard but the computer is still fully functioning). So we are back online and the phone is working again. An electrician came yesterday and fixed the wiring in the garage. The pet fence people came the other day and fixed that. We also had to get a new satellite dish and all new DirecTV receivers. What a mess! But luckily all was covered under all our warranties for everything. Ironically the only thing that cost us money was the pet fence...which is what caused the whole mess to begin with! But we are all safe and no damage to the house or fire or anything like that. It sure was crazy though!
